PARIS, ONTARIO (November 13, 2012) – As part of its commitment to work with the local community to address their concerns, Dufferin Aggregates, a division of Holcim (Canada) Inc., has received approval from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), under the Aggregate Resources Act, to re-locate the Paris Pit entrance.  The re-location will improve traffic flow at the site entrance.

“We are and remain open-minded to listen to  the concerns of our neighbours and are pleased that we received MNR approval to re-locate the site entrance for our planned pit in Paris,” says Kevin Mitchell, Manager of Land Development and Ecology, Holcim (Canada) Inc.  “This amendment, as well as our original license for the Paris Pit, clearly state that we must operate in accordance with all applicable provincial and federal standards and legislation.  We are also committed to operating in a manner that takes into consideration the interests of our local community stakeholders.”

As part of these continued efforts to work together with the local community and make improvements to the Paris Pit Site Plan and its operations, Dufferin Aggregates will be conducting pre-consultation meetings to discuss the upcoming Permit to Take Water (PTTW) application.  These meetings aim to further the dialogue with the community and stakeholders regarding water takings planned for the Paris Pit site.  Dufferin Aggregates plans to schedule meetings with neighbours, the general public, local community groups such as Concerned Citizens of Brant, First Nations groups, the DFA Paris Community Advisory Panel, as well as the County, Grand River Conservation Authority, the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Natural Resources.  The purpose of the pre-consultation meetings is to gather relevant feedback related to the PTTW application.
